I want to be part of the solution, helping students see their potential. I want to mentor and motivate the next generation because people supported and helped me as an at-risk student in high school. If I can overcome as a troubled youth, so can you. Do not let others or your past define who you are. With God on your side, you can do anything and be anything you want. All things are possible to those people who believe.
Gene Gorden is a Workforce Development Professional, with an in-depth knowledge of developing and implementing successful employment training programs for in school youth, out of school youth, older youth, adults and dislocated workers.
As St. Louis County's Executive Director for Workforce Development, Mr. Gorden's staff and subcontractors, ( St. Louis Community College, Mers Goodwill, Urban League of Greater Metropolitan St. Louis, The International Institute and Better Family Life) all were successful in training and placing thousands of individuals in sustainable employment, including a 1000 youths in summer jobs. Gene Gorden brings over twenty-five years of experience, knowledge and expertise to this profession. He has successfully implemented programs and developed relationships for the overall benefit of citizens and business community.
Gene Gorden was appointed by Mayor Clarence Harmon to serve as Director for the St. Louis Community Development Agency, responsible for housing and community development projects, working with the 28 aldermen/ alderwomen in St. Louis.
Gene Director of Strategic Business Initiatives "Regional Chamber and Growth Association" (RCGA) a public/ private initiative with St. Louis City and (RCGA). The goal was to acquire public and private equity for projects and to spur development in distressed areas in the region.
Gene Gorden has an extensive background in Business Administration, Organizational Development, Public Administration, Employment Development Strategies, Theology and Community Relations. Gene had the opportunity to study at Covenant Seminary, Missouri Baptist University, Lindenwood University and St. Louis Community College at Meramec.
Gene authored his first book in 2021 title Faith Forges Success ( A passion for Helping). A story about how he turned his challenges into opportunities, in school, in the community, and in his professional life. His book talks about life and purpose, leadership, family, community, persistence, faith and following your passion. His book was written to be a motivational tool for youth and young adults.
